In recent weeks we’ve welcomed our newest member of the NYCOS team, with Anna Ghazal joining us as Creative Learning Producer. Anna joins following the retirement of Carole Allen (Head of Creative Learning) after seventeen valuable years in post.
Anna is a fully qualified primary teacher and music specialist. As a National Youth Choir of Scotland alumna, she has sung in the RSNO Chorus, Edinburgh International Festival Chorus, Glasgow University Chapel Choir, Glasgow Madrigirls and semi-professionally in the Armonico Consort. She has established and directed various choirs throughout her career (including NYCOS Renfrewshire Choir) and has planned and delivered a range of music outreach projects including singing for well-being sessions and vocal leadership workshops for the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland’s (RCS) Fair Access department. Her experience and insight of singing and choral education will be invaluable.
Anna will work closely with our Creative Learning Director Lucinda Geoghegan and Chief Executive Ed Milner to manage the design and delivery of NYCOS’ considerable Creative Learning programme, including Kodály training events and projects throughout the year.
Lucinda Geoghegan, NYCOS Creative Learning Director:
“I am absolutely delighted to welcome Anna to the NYCOS team. The role of Creative Learning Producer is such a vital role and the juggling of the many education projects delivered by NYCOS is no small task! Anna attended some of the certificate course training online herself and continues to do so. Her commitment, dedication and passion for singing and education will be a great asset to the organisation.”
Anna Ghazal:
“I am thrilled to have joined the NYCOS team and have enjoyed my first few weeks in post! I am looking forward to working with our YMI Local Authority partners on our work in schools and coordinating training opportunities for classroom teachers and music practitioners in Scotland.”
